Purpose

This policy sets out the criteria and procedures for admitting children to Ladels Day Nursery, ensuring that the process is:

  • Transparent
  • Fair
  • Fully compliant with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework

Capacity and Age Range

At Ladels Day Nursery, we are registered to care for 62 children, aged 3 months to 4 years.

All admissions are managed in line with:

  • EYFS legal space requirements
  • Staff-to-child ratios

This ensures the highest standards of care, learning, and safety for every child.

Admissions Criteria

Places are allocated according to the following order of priority:

  1. Looked after children – those in the care of the local authority
  2. Children with SEND – where needs can be appropriately supported in our setting
  3. Vulnerable children – including those on a Child Protection Plan, Child in Need Plan, or in receipt of other local authority support
  4. Siblings – of children already attending Ladels Day Nursery
  5. Local children – living within the immediate surrounding area

Additional Notes

Where requested, full-time places may be prioritised over part-time requests, depending on:

  • Room availability
  • Staffing capacity
  • Operational needs
