Eligibility
- Pregnant individuals (from the 10th week of pregnancy).
- Parents or guardians of children under 4 years old.
- Applicants must be receiving certain benefits, such as Universal Credit (with an income threshold) or Child Tax Credit.
Benefits
Weekly funds are loaded onto a prepaid Healthy Start card:
- £4.25 per week from the 10th week of pregnancy.
- £8.50 per week for children under 1 year old.
- £4.25 per week for children aged 1 to 4 years.
Access to free vitamins for both parents and children.
How It Works
1. Shopping:
- The card can be used in stores displaying the Mastercard® symbol.
- Approved items include fresh or frozen fruits, vegetables, plain milk, and infant formula.
- Purchases are monitored to ensure funds are spent on approved items.
2. Restrictions:
- Online purchases, cash withdrawals, and non-eligible items are not allowed.
- The card must be used at least once every 16 weeks to maintain eligibility.
3. Application Process:
- Applications can be completed online or by mail.
- Details of benefits, pregnancy, or children under 4 must be provided.
Additional Support
