Chinese New Year February 17 – 3rd March 2026 (Year of the Snake)

Chinese New Year is a big celebration that welcomes a brand-new year in the lunar calendar.

Families clean and decorate with red lanterns to invite good luck and happiness.

People enjoy special meals, give red envelopes, and watch fireworks or dragon dances.

Each year is linked to an animal, and everyone hopes for a bright, lucky year ahead!

World Book Day –Thursday, 5 Mar 2026

“Get ready to step into the magical world of books! On World Book Day, we’ll dress as our favorite characters and celebrate the amazing stories that make us dream, laugh, and learn. Books take us on adventures to faraway lands, where we meet brave heroes, curious animals, and magical creatures. At nursery, we’ll read stories from all over the world and talk about what makes each one special. Dressing up reminds us that we can be anyone and do anything when we use our imaginations. Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday) – Tuesday 17th March, 2026

“Did you know Pancake Day started as a way to use up all the yummy ingredients like eggs and milk before a special time called Lent? Today, we celebrate it by flipping pancakes, tasting delicious toppings, and having loads of fun! At nursery, we’ll learn about this tradition and try flipping our own pretend pancakes in exciting games. Everyone will get to share their favorite pancake ideas—chocolate, syrup, lemon, or even something new! This day shows us how food and traditions can bring people together. It’s all about learning, laughing, and celebrating the little things that make life sweet.”

St Patricks Day - Tuesday 17th March, 2026

St Patrick’s Day is a special day when people celebrate Ireland.

We wear green and use shamrocks (a little three-leaf plant) because St Patrick taught people with it.

You might see rainbows and pots of gold in decorations—just for fun and good luck!
Some people enjoy parades, music, and dancing to celebrate together.

Red Nose Day – March 20th 2026

“Red Nose Day is one of the silliest, happiest days of the year—and it’s all for a good cause! On this day, we wear funny red noses and costumes, laugh together, and think about how we can help others. At nursery, we’ll learn about children around the world who need our kindness and how even small actions can make a big difference. With games, stories, and red-nose crafts, we’ll show that helping others can be fun and rewarding. Red Nose Day teaches us the power of kindness and laughter, which are part of what makes our nursery so special!”

Easter Monday - Mon, 6 Apr 2026

“Easter Monday at Ladels Day Nursery is always full of joy and laughter! We’ll take part in an exciting Easter egg hunt, searching high and low for colorful eggs hidden all around. We’ll learn about how Easter is celebrated in different ways around the world, from bunnies and eggs to spring flowers and feasts. Together, we’ll make crafts, enjoy treats, and talk about why sharing happiness with others is so important. It’s a day filled with smiles and special moments, celebrating the hope and joy of springtime.”

Nursery Graduation Day - Thursday 16th July 2026

Graduation Day is a happy day when we celebrate how much you’ve learned and grown.

We wear special hats or gowns and get a certificate to say “Well done!”

We sing, smile, and take photos with our friends and teachers.

It’s a big “hooray!” for moving up to the next class.

Father's Day - Sunday 21st June 2026

Father’s Day is a special day to say “thank you” to dads and father figures for all the love and help they give us.

We can make a card, draw a picture, or give a big hug to show we care.

Families might spend time together playing, reading, or going out for a treat.

It’s a happy day to celebrate all the fun things we do with Dad!
