If you are providing a packed lunch for your child:
- Cut grapes, cherry tomatoes, and sausages into quarters lengthways to prevent choking
- Avoid nuts or nut products due to severe allergies
- Include a healthy mix of protein, fruit, vegetables, and carbohydrates
- No sweets, fizzy drinks, or chocolate bars
Please be aware that we will not warm lunch so make sure that your child pack lunch is in a container to maintain the correct temperature for safe eating.

Yes. Our team includes Level 3 qualified practitioners, apprentices, and degree-level professionals.
All staff counted in ratios are paediatric first aid trained, DBS checked, and regularly updated in safeguarding, early education, and child development.
We follow strict safeguarding procedures and EYFS welfare requirements:
- All staff undergo enhanced background checks
- Children are always supervised, including at meal and nap times
- Secure entry/exit points and regular safety drills
- We require at least two emergency contacts per child
- We monitor attendance daily – if a child is unexpectedly absent, we follow up to ensure their welfare
You must inform the nursery of your child absent
If your child doesn’t attend unexpectedly, we will contact you and other emergency contacts.
If we cannot reach anyone and are concerned, we may involve appropriate safeguarding agencies, in line with EYFS guidance.
The Tax-Free Childcare scheme helps working parents with childcare costs by providing up to £2,000 per year per child (or £4,000 for children with additional needs).
For every £8 you pay into your online childcare account, the government will add an extra £2.

We can administer prescribed or short-term medication (like antibiotics or inhalers), provided:
- It’s in the original packaging with a prescription label, Childs name and D.O.B.
- A Medication Consent Form is signed
- The dosage is clearly stated
All administration is logged and shared with you at collection.
We’ll work with you to create a personalised Healthcare Plan for your child. We also:
- Train staff in using EpiPens, inhalers, or other specific needs
- Maintain allergy-aware classrooms
- Safely store medication and follow strict hygiene protocols
- Keep emergency procedures up to date and practiced
In Croydon, you’ll need to apply for a Reception place in the academic year before your child turns 5.

Yes For safety reasons:
- No open-toed shoes
- No hair beads (they can be a choking hazard)
- No jewellery except small stud earrings

This is completely normal, especially during the first few weeks. We use gentle settling-in sessions and assign each child a Key Person to build trust. You’re welcome to call for updates, and we’ll keep you informed of their progress.
We kindly ask parents to collect children on time. From September 2025, a late collection fee of £1 per minute will apply after your booked session ends.
We use the Blossom Parent App to share updates, photos, and important messages. We also send newsletters, notices, and reminders via email. Please ensure your contact details are always up to date.
